High Prairie is located 365 kms northwest of Edmonton, and has a population approaching 2,700 but serves a regional population of approximately 24,000 people. This population supports the numerous service providers and businesses that make High Prairie the service hub of the region.  High Prairie presents an exceptionally attractive living environment with wide grassed boulevards and an abundance of trees.  Amenities include two ice surfaces, a Performing Arts Centre, Indoor Pool and a nine hole golf course. High Prairie hosts many other activities including professional and amateur Rodeos and Agricultural events. High Prairie is looking for a Chief Administrative Officer to direct, coordinate and implement the programs and policies established by Council and to ensure the residents continue to receive Municipal services of the highest quality within sound fiscal management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the overall planning, coordination and control of municipal operations in accordance with the Alberta Municipal Government Act.

  • Effectively communicates and deals with residents of the Town to maintain positive opportunities for growth in both residential and business sectors.

  • Maintains and builds on strong partnerships with regional municipalities and organizations.

  • Serves as the Town’s Development Officer.

Candidate must possess a certificate in Local Government Administration or relevant post secondary education. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience in Municipal Administration. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
